Spotlight: James Mallette

Resident filmer, James Mallette, is kind of new to our scene. In his brief stint in Boone, NC he has proven himself to be a ripper. Although he does dabble freeride, he specializes in what is quickly becoming a lost art; luge. James first started luging on his own homemade sled, literally just urethane, plywood, and sheer guts.

When he’s not in front of the lens, he’s behind it. James has contributed heavily in the past six months, producing a handful of videos featured here on this site. Hop on board with James and take a first person run at 60mph.

Spotlight: Matt Deitch

Matt Deitch is a beast on a skateboard. Matt recently took 4th Place at Soldiers of Downhill in Ohio and has a promising future of racing ahead of him. He lives in Asheville, NC and rides for Action Board Shop and Tutone Skateboards.

Spotlight: King Kong

King Kong is a beast of a road. Two miles of 13% grade allows skilled riders to reach speeds in excess of 50mph just before throwing them into full 180º switchback hairpins. This road finds itself among the highest echelon of East Coast roads, side by side with Paradise and Borderlands. Only the most skilled riders can handle a road like this.

Spotlight: LOCAL Apparel

Local Bomb it was established in 2009 by Wade Montgomery and for the past six years they have been the keystone in the Local scene. LOCAL has compiled a small group of talented skaters and snowboarders in Boone, NC. Besides providing riders with apparel and gear, Local supports events and road-trips like the Shine Run, a Spring road trip to North Carolina’s gnarliest hills. Wade’s contributions have lead the charge in what has historically been a very anti-skateboarding community, providing us with the foundation for the skate scene so many enjoy today.
