Shinerun 2018

Shinerun 2018 was one for the books. We took a page from the 2015 trip and decided to turn a trek north into a triangle that covered everything rad about the east coast.

We were lucky enough to have our trip coincide with an outlaw in West Virginia on a portion of a beautiful mountain pass. We woke up Saturday morning and decided to hit some classic Shinerun gems in Velzyland on our way to VA. Velzy was already in spring condition and we skating all day until Marshal took a bad fall on Red Rail and got road rash on his jim.

After the race and our sessions with the Virginia crew, we headed east to the beach to catch the swell from a big developing nor’easter. On the coast, we found plenty of skateparks and got a small day of 2 ft waves in Atlantic Beach and a perfect morning of head high barrels at Carolina Beach.

Once the swell faded, we headed up to Asheville to stay with Brandon Kourie and see the rest of the Pastry boys. The Asheville days were filled with lots of skating and corner sessions and the occasional late night downtown.

We ended the trip skating a newly paved classic and headed back to Boone for much-needed rest and maybe another Buna sesh.
